The collections coordinator will make decisions about; 1) best practices with regard to preventative conservation of existing collections, 2) the appropriate local, state, and federal agencies for funding opportunities, 3) preparation of grant applications, 4) supervision of student tasks, and 5) appropriate communication to interested partners within and outside of the university concerning our collections. Day to day decisions will include how to manage time on essential tasks related to converting existing inventory system to digital platform, grant writing, teaching responsibilities, and external relations geared to growing the collections. The collections coordinator will report to supervising archaeology faculty and chair of the department. Mission and goals will be dictated by supervising archaeologist and chair of the department. All tasks and activities will be approved by supervising archaeologist and chair of the department.
Required Job Qualifications: Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Museum Studies, or closely related field OR a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience as a collections coordinator or manager.
Preferred Job Qualifications: Experience modernizing archival databases into digital platforms, evidence of success at acquiring external funds for various projects, teaching experience, experience managing archaeological collections.
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
