The Board of Electors to the McDonald Professorship of Palaeoproteomics invite applications for this single tenure Professorship (for a 10 year term) from persons whose work falls within the general field of the Professorship to take up appointment on 1 October 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Professorship will be based in the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, within the Department of Archaeology.
Candidates will have an outstanding research record of international stature and leadership in the emerging field of Palaeoproteomics, combined with strong evidence of an associated engagement with major themes in interpretative social archaeology and material culture, as well as a track record of success in gaining large-scale funding, forging international collaborations and projects, actively encouraging a new generation of researchers in their field, and senior academic management and leadership both nationally and internationally. They will demonstrate the vision, experience and enthusiasm to work with colleagues to maintain and extend into new domains Cambridge’s reputation for excellence and innovation in the field of archaeological science. They will hold a PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Standard professorial duties include teaching and research, examining, supervision and administration. The Professor will be based in Cambridge. A competitive salary will be offered.
