University of Manitoba
The Department of Anthropology, Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position in Archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor that will commence July 1, 2020. Applicants must have a PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology, or a closely related discipline, at the time of appointment. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate clear potential for a program of active, field-based research, a vision for expanding and maximizing the potential of departmental resources, and commitment to the University's role as a leader in education and research in Western Canada. Duties will include undergraduate teaching, graduate teaching and supervision, research, and service to the University community. Teaching duties will include the department’s foundational course in biological anthropology and archaeology at the first year level, second year introductory archaeology courses, and more advanced undergraduate and graduate courses according to the candidate's areas of specialization and departmental needs. The University of Manitoba is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from women, members of racialized communities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, persons of all sexual orientations and genders, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. Applications should be sent to Corrine Bakun, Administrative Assistant, by email at Corrine.Bakun@umanitoba.ca. The deadline for receipt of applications is December 7, 2019.
