The Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment specializing in environmental archaeology. We seek an anthropological archaeologist whose research explores past Indigenous and traditional systems of ecological knowledge alongside the dynamic interaction of humans with the environment. Candidates with an active program of field and lab-based research and expertise in paleoenviromental analytic techniques (e.g., paleoethnobotany, archaeozoology, geoarchaeology, aDNA) will be given priority. The successful qualified candidate will be appointed initially as a Faculty Fellow, a two-year residential postdoctoral appointment. After this two-year period, the position will convert to a regular tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor. Faculty Fellows are part of a cohort of faculty committed to increasing diversity in their disciplines.
Applicants should have a PhD in anthropology, archaeology or closely related field. ABD candidates with PhD expected before the start date of their appointment as Faculty Fellow will be considered. Preference will be given to applicants who have held a PhD less than 3 years. Review of applications will begin November 9, 2020 and continue until the position has been filled.
