Assistant Teaching Professor - 2021-22 Limited Term Appointment in Archaeological Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology, University of Victoria, invites applications for a 0.75 Limited Term Assistant Teaching Professor with expertise in the area of archaeological anthropology to replace faculty who are on study leave. This 9 month appointment comes with an obligation to teach a total of six (1.5 unit) courses (3 in September 2021 and 3 in January 2022) with a possibility of summer 2021 teaching as well.

We seek a dynamic instructor who has completed the PhD and has the requisite background to teach courses in the scholar’s area of regional, topical or methodological specialization. We particularly seek an individual who can offer courses with a strong experiential learning/skills-based component. The ability to teach an introductory course in archaeology (ANTH 240) is a must. The full list of the departments’ course offerings can be found in the Calendar but applicants may propose new courses. Applicants should send syllabi of courses they would be interested in teaching, and a teaching dossier/portfolio that provides evidence of successful university-level teaching. Application materials, including a cover letter and CV, as well as the names and contact information of three referees should be received not later than 5 PM PST January 15th, 2021.
