The State Archaeologist serves in a leadership capacity regarding federal project review and compliance, guiding Agency and state policy regarding archaeological resources and programs, including NAGPRA, and leads the Archaeology Survey of Idaho. The State Archaeologist collaborates with professional and academic archaeologists, identifying strategic needs and best practices for the state and region and creates opportunities to enhance public knowledge of archaeology through programming, field schools, excursions, and publications. This position identifies archaeology project priorities and opportunities for detailed study and investigation in alignment with the State Historic Preservation plan; seeks funding for special projects and publishes results. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must describe how they meet the following in accordance with federal regulation 36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A:Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field plus: Professional supervisory field and analytic experience in general North American archeology Supplemental Information Preferred Qualifications
