Our State Archaeologist serves as the statewide expert for federal and state cultural resources and is responsible for the knowledge, preservation, and compliance matters regarding cultural resources throughout North Dakota. This position reviews federally funded undertakings, ensuring compliance with numerous Federal and State laws to maintain the preservation of cultural resources and leads complex projects. The State Archaeologist reports to the Director of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
