TVA’s (Tennessee Valley Authority) Cultural Compliance group is seeking experienced contract staff through Johnson Service Group for our Archaeologist A and B positions.  This position will review planned projects and conduct, if necessary, archaeological reconnaissance to identify archaeological resources potentially impacted by proposed TVA actions within TVA's seven state power service area.  This position is for someone who has archaeological and/or architectural field experience, a working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, and the ability to work 32-40 hours per week.  See education requirements below.  The official workstation is in Knoxville or Chattanooga, Tennessee, and occasional travel is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conducting desktop level reviews, using internal TVA and state databases, (archaeological/architectural), and online public resources for known historic resources and/or archaeological/architectural survey information.
• Conducting reconnaissance field reviews to determine if archaeological/architectural resources are present within the project area.
• Writing consultation letters, letter reports, and internal TVA Cultural Compliance documentation.
• Using computer applications to record sites and findings into TVA’s database system.
• Creating maps/shapefiles in ArcGIS Pro, etc.,
• Composing scopes-of-work and reviewing/editing external survey reports,
• Producing, compiling and maintaining written, photographic and drawn records and electronic databases,
• Some overnight travel and occasional long work days throughout TVA’s power service area. (Travel is usually confined to a one-night stay and on an infrequent basis).

Education/Certificates/Licenses:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in archaeology, or related field. Post graduate studies in anthropology or equivalent, archaeology, historical architecture, or a closely related field, and three to five years experience is preferred.

Must have a state issued driver’s license.
