The Society seeks a professional archaeologist to manage its laboratory, established 11 years ago, and to perform approved excavations and public archaeology activities in the Coastal Georgia area.  The goal is to maximize the ability of the lab to document, analyze, and preserve Coastal Georgia history and to share findings through public programming.  The lab is located at the Historic St. Simons Coast Guard Station, which houses the World War II Home Front Museum.  CGHS is headquartered at the A.W. Jones Heritage Center and also operates the St. Simons Lighthouse Museum.  Employment will be based on a one-year contract, with the possibility that, upon completion, the candidate will become a full-time staff member, depending on performance.  The position reports to the Deputy Executiv
