We have an immediate opening for a Full, Part-time, or On-Call Archaeologist in our Folsom office with a desire to be part of a close-knit and energetic multidisciplinary environmental team. This individual will work closely with our two Principal archaeologists to become an established and integral part of our Cultural Management Team. We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 5 years’ experience who will be responsible for leading the cultural resource identification and evaluation efforts associated with projects, including field surveys, archival research, Native American Tribal Government consultation, and cultural report drafting needed to comply with both the
California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) regulations. Dokken has provided environmental and cultural resource services for over 18 years. We deliver innovative environmental and engineering solutions for local, state, and federally funded public works projects.
Minimum Requirements: Must have completed an archaeological field school.
Must have completed a BA or BS in anthropology, archaeology, history, or cultural resource management.
An MA is preferred.
Minimum five years of experience in cultural resource management/archaeology, preferably in California,
including:
Archaeological Field Survey
Extended Phase I Presence/Absence Testing
Report Writing (sole author preferred)
Native American Consultation
Historical Groups Consultation
Archival Research
GPS/GIS data collection and mapping
Knowledge of federal and California environmental laws (i.e., Section 106 of the National Historic
Preservation Act, NEPA, and CEQA).
Experience with public works projects, transportation projects, and/or the Caltrans Section 106 process, is preferred.
Duties as Directed:
Conducting literature research and record searches
Coordinating Native American consultation
Leading archaeological field surveys and preparing site documentation
Conducting archaeological excavation (testing and data recovery)
Writing cultural reports including, but not limited to, Caltrans-formatted cultural reports
Working with clients, regulatory authorities, and sub-consultants
Assisting with the development and implementation of mitigation and monitoring reporting programs
FLSA Status: Full-Time -Exempt
Compensation:Competitive salary ranging from $ 80,000 to $ 130,000. DOE
Location: In-person at the Folsom HQ office. Intermittent travel throughout the State will be required.
