The University of Montana, Anthropology Department invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant Professor to begin August 2025.
The Department of Anthropology practices the four-field approach and seeks an individual who will support this framework. Successful applicants will have Ph.D.-level training in Biological Anthropology with concentrations in Forensic Anthropology and Bioarchaeology. The teaching load consists a range of courses, including introductory, upper-division, and graduate seminars. Course content includes osteology, bioarchaeology, and forensic anthropology/archaeology. Applicants should be willing to include forensic casework for the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula as part of their research agenda, be willing to serve on topically-related graduate committees, and be willing to mentor students in the forensic and bioarchaeology areas. Additionally, they should be prepared to bring on graduate students at the MA and PhD level to support our robust graduate program.

Schedule: Full time, academic year position (10 months)
Salary: $70,000- $75,000

Primary Duties: Primary duties include teaching, scholarship, and service.
